Greetings from Cow Creek,

Bet you didn’t expect to hear from me so soon, but I wanted to report on recent events. The month of September has been an extremely busy and exhaustive one, but very enjoyable.

It started north of Brackettville, Tx., where we did a private show for David and Chrystal Watts at the Back Porch Ranch where they were hosting a dove hunting weekend for their clients and friends. I’ve never been west of Uvalde on Hwy 90. They put us up at Ft. Clark Springs Resort, which is an old cavalry post converted into an oasis for weary travelers. The reason I mention is because of the incredible spring fed swimming pool there that rivals any in the state! There was absolutely no one there but me at the time. I didn’t have a bathing suit so I took a look around, peeled down to my skivvies and swam a few laps. So refreshing………

From Brackettville we hauled “you–know-what” all the way to College Station where we performed for the big “First Yell” at Texas A & M, in the beautiful new basketball facility there with the legendary Johnny Bush, and Joe Ely. Roger Creager and Max Stallings were also on the bill. I’ve had the pleasure to perform with all of them over the years and it’s always a pleasure to be with them..

The next night was at Gruene Halle in New Braunfels, the “oldest dancehall in Texas” where we had a packed house of enthusiastic Gary P. Nunn fans. I’ve been doing Gruene Halle since the late 80’s and it’s amazing how the Halle and the area have grown!

The next week, on 9/11 we flew out to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, off the coast of Belize for our “SECOND ANNUAL BELIZE BASH”. We sold out the event and took over the luxurious VICTORIA HOUSE RESORT! That event is so cool as there are so many things you can do right from the boat ramp there. A typical day’s events might include a morning fishing trip among the mangrove islands, then ease over to Caulker Caye for lunch, then over to the marine wildlife park for snorkeling among the fish, sharks, sea turtles, and rays. After that you go back to the Victoria House, take your fish to the kitchen where they will prepare the fish to you taste, which includes the best cervices you’ve ever tasted. There are excursions to the Mayan ruins on the mainland, awesome zip-lining, or perhaps you may chose to rent a bicycle or a golf cart, as there are very few cars on the island, and mosey from the VH to the business district and just chill out. It’s all so very laid back.. I do acoustic shows after we’ve eaten a first class dinner back at the Victoria House. If you’reinterested in joining us next year, contact us at your earliest convenience and get your name on the list. There are only 84 pillows at the Victoria House, and they sell out quickly.

Back in the USA, I did a special show in Lufkin, Texas, with some of the fellows who have played in Austin since the 60’s. Craig Hillis, put together a group he dubbed the “LOST AUSTIN BAND” and we played a nice show featuring tunes from the 70’s at the famous old golf club. From there I went to Nacogdoches, a show at the Liberty Bell….then to Brenham for the “WASHINGTON COUNTY FAIR’ with the Sons of the Bunkhouse Band, and Randy Rogers Band! Man it was packed….an estimated 7,000 fans! That was really a great show. That fair will be celebrated 150 years of continuous operation in a couple of years. They have approached me about writing a song for a movie they are making about that sesquicentennial event.

I busted out of Brenham and headed to the hill country for my annual trail ride with the Tejas Vaqueros, for 5 more days of reliving the life of the Texas Cowboy.. More great fun, but I must admit, I was pretty well “tapped out”, by the time I got off the ride. I’ve been napping a lot since I got back a couple of days ago. Like Hondo Crouch use to say, “Having fun can be hard work…….sometimes”.

Well folks, I didn’t intend to get so wordy with this. Just wanted to share it with you. Check out our webpage garypnunn.com or my FaceBook page for our schedule coming up. I wanted to remind our friends in the Houston area about the upcoming fundraising gala for the MY FRIENDS FOUNDATION at the Bell Tower on Thursday, October 23rd . This is a great event raising funds for “families in crisis” and all the proceeds go to families who need a helping hand. For information and ticket reservations contact Don or Kathy Neuenschwander at 830-890-5494 or at 713-824-1829. I will be performing as well as Louie Crapitto and Doug Boggs and the Cowboy Jazz Band.

Also, I wanted to extend a big ole Texas THANK YOU to all you for your support though the years. I encourage you to continue to download our music from Itunes as this is greatly appreciated. Until next time, I will remain your friend for life,

Adios amigos y vaya con Dios!
