Greetings from Cow Creek,

Hello, once again, from the beautiful hill country of Burnet County, Texas, and once again I have to apologize for being “muy tarde” in getting back with you. It just seems as time goes by, the faster it goes by, but I’m back. As many of you are aware we have been burning up the road, covering greater distances, and doing more shows a week, but it has all been more fun then ever.

The new “Sons of the Bunkhouse Band” are working out great. We started out with the new guys on the 1st of January, hit the ground running, and have been running ever since. It takes a while to get familiar with all the material that I’m likely to pull out of the bag every night, but they are catching on fast. “Earn While You Learn” is the pseudonym I apply while we are in this phase and they are doing a great job.

We just put together a deal to record a “live” record at Gilley’s Club in Dallas. I don’t have the date yet, but we will let you know so you can all come out a be a part of this “historic event”. Every one bring your digital video cameras, take pictures of everything, and we’ll put it all together and make a “one of a kind” music video with everyone in it. Sounds like fun to me.

MAJOR ROAD TRIP ALERT! You know we’re big with the Chili Cook-off Crowd. We will be returning to Terlingua, (that’s Texas for the uninitiated), this year for the World Championship Chili Cook-off. It’s been a few years since we’ve been out there, but I can tell you it’s one of the most fun events you can imagine. It’s always held on the 1st weekend in November, and our performance is on Friday night. So “get your chili ready” and join us in Terlingua.

CORONA CON LIMA CARIBBEAN CRUISE! We have been invited by the Chili Head Society of America, (my appellation), to provide entertainment on a 7-day cruise of the Eastern Caribbean out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. We sail on Dec. 10th and return on the 17th, with stops at San Juan, St Marteen, and La Romana, and Cayo Levantando. I understand these cruise ships are very elegant. So join me, Ruth, and the band for this very special vacation event and make more “Friends for Life”!

Speaking of islands and oceans, our son Julian just finished his second year at Texas State, came home for a few days and then flew out to Kona, Hawaii, where he will spend 6 weeks doing construction work on million dollar homes. He reports he’s learning a lot, Hawaii is beautiful, and it’s damned hard work! I think he can handle it. I’ll be back with more news soon, I promise.
